This was my first personal project developed in a more structured way. After doing a professional photoshoot, I wanted to find a nice way to introduce myself to the people who follow me on social media and know my work, but didn’t really know my face yet. And of course, for that, I created an animated video, nothing could represent me better.
I started by building a moodboard, gathering different references to help shape the concept more clearly. I looked for inspiration in colorful, playful layouts that mixed real people with illustration.
After that, I started sketching directly in Illustrator and creating my illustrations in vector format. I made drawings that, in one way or another, represented me, along with a visual representation of what I do.
The animatic was built from the static illustrations, so I could understand the animation timing and the order in which the elements would appear.
And finally, the animation itself, the most complex part of the process. Understanding the dynamics of each movement so the piece wouldn’t feel overloaded, even with so many elements, was definitely a challenge.
I created patterns in some of the illustrations to give them a kind of “fake” 3D look and add more depth to the composition. I also reworked the transitions so they would flow better than what I had originally explored in the animatic.
This whole process was developed with the help of my mentor, @Pola Lucas, and she was definitely fundamental in making this project much more consistent and the animations much more fluid. A special thank you to her for all the help :)
This was a very important project for me. It allowed me to develop technical skills and understand how important a well-structured process is to the final result.
